Tiger Fishing by Malcolm Meintjes
Malcolm Meintjes, who is a well known fly fisherman and author of a number of flyfishing books, was the guest speaker at the monthly technical session of the Jacaranda Fly Fishing Club on the 05 February 2013 at the Centurion Rugby Club. Malcolm’s’ topic for the evening was on fly-fishing for Tiger fish. Tiger fish are only found in Africa and it is an awesome achievement and experience to catch one of these species on fly.
Malcolm Meintjes’ in-depth knowledge of the Okavango and Zambezi rivers was shared with the club members. Numerous techniques and advice were given by Malcolm to flyfishers honing their skills in trying to catch these fantastic predators.
Malcolm also emphasised that when visiting locations such as the Okavango and Zambezi Rivers to catch these fish, one should also enjoy the other joys of fly fishing, the bird life, scenery and nature that these lovely venues have to offer.
After the presentation, Malcolm gave members the opportunity to ask questions which he gladly answered. At the end of the evening the Chairman of Jacaranda Fly Fishing Club, Roy Lubbe thanked Malcolm and presented him with a token of appreciation after which all enjoyed snacks and refreshments.
The next club meeting will be at 19H00 on 05 March 2013 at the same venue. “Targeting Large Mouth Yellows”, will be the topic.
Non-members wishing to join the club are welcome to attend.
