'In the stunning province of Mpumalanga, close to Machadodorp, lies Katrinasrust, a tranquil fly-fishing haven. Superior fully-serviced accommodation can sleep up to 11 guests in four bedrooms, and offers visitors the choice between self-catering or catering by arrangement. DSTV is available on request or simply relax in the spacious dining entertainment area. Katrinasrust was established in 1949 and has been in the Brewer family since 1954.

The oldest building on the farm dates back to circa 1880. A fishing syndicate was established in 1969 and the farm produces more than 70 tons of live fish per year - trout over 5kg have been caught. We promote catch and release because we care for nature, because we love the sport, and because we want our children, and their children, and their children..To Enjoy It!.'

The event was held over the period 27-29 Jul 12.  Seven (7) fishermen attended.  Fishing took place in the two (2) dams and 7 km of river.
Total fish caught = 118, sizes ranging from 500g to 3,5kg.  Lovely time of the year, cool weather in the day, sometimes a chilly wind did the undeserving thing of finding gaps in your clothing, evenings were cold. The fireplace was extensively used for obvious reasons.

Evening chats were filled with 'the fish that got away, 'who bought a spot [fell] on the river?', 'which fly did you use?', 'which fly next to use?,  so on and on...good food, good beer, wine and great company was experienced every night.

Next visit is booked for Jun 13.

To all those who attended, thanks a million for an enjoyable weekend. .

Till next time.
